Position 103
There is a concept "technical proficiency" meaning winning certain positions automatically, I like the term "realizing the advantage"
White to move and win
White to move and win
Re: Position 103
Strong and interesting terms Sir Jake .
I believe a quick view of the position will show white in the advance state, may need to prevent black from moving cd6 which will guarantee the swap (dc5 db6 ac5) neutralizing white's ability to prevent black from getting a draw from the lose piece at (c5) not having any piece to prevent him from advancing to king.
Dc5 is one way of preventing cd6, but if black respond with fe7 white will be forced to move only the piece at g1 followed by black moving cd6 and again the game should end up in a draw. The ideal options after cd6 are (ab6 db4, bc7 ba3, cd8 ed6, dh4 ab2, he6 bc1) or (fe3, taking it that white had moved gf2 prior to cd6, db4, ac3 ed6, ed4 ab6, cb4 ba5) and both options should guarantee a draw for black.
I "believe" white's "best" move to win is fe5 limiting black to move fg7 as moves (ab6 eg7, fh6 gf2 or gh2, hg5 fg3 or hg3 wins) or (fg5 dc5 and black is unable to to defend piece at c7 with fe7 due to threat ef6). After fg7 gf2, gh6 eg7, hf8 fe3 limiting black to move fe7 or ab6 as cd6 will provide exchange ab6 ac5, db6 and black will lose.
I am tired now to be honest to go further in the break down of remaining moves but I see white winning after both fe7 or ab6 just the same, will someone else please complete it. I know the winning moves as I can see it in my head but let someone else take it from here now for team effort ok and thanks

"lose piece" at line 2 should be loose piece, just getting to reread ok and if more errors please overlook as I'm really tired, gonna take a break now.

Hi Agua,
The beautiful thing about the forum posts is that you can come back and fix the errors, add more text or delete the post completely - compare this to emails where once it is out - it is gone.

Re: Position 103
I see white winning with 1.fe5 forcing black to move to fg7 and after that now white can wait for black's next move with 2.gf2 ... at that stage the seemingly best move for black should be gh6. 3.eg7 hf8 (now white should move 4.fe3!to stop black from advancing with cd6. Again black is forced to move fe7 5. ef4 and now white is assured of a win.
Re: Position 103
I agree with you Jake, it looks strong but it will die so easily. 1.fe5 fg7 2. gf2 ab6 3. fg3! exposes all the weaknesses of black and at this stage, no option for black but to give 2 pieces 3.fg3 bc5? 4.dd8 fd4 5.dc7! black is now in danger of losing a piece. dc3 6.ce5 and its over !!!!
Re: Position 103
Plain you guys look on the surface, there is line after line here, let me throw in my analysis, you will find various endings and techics used. You both need to start using Aurora to record and demostrate the moves, it will be easier both for you and your readers

Hi Jake,
I have AURORA 3.0 but I have not yet started using it frequently. I do agree with you that using aurora is much easier when it comes to posting some game or position analysis for others to understand:bball:

Nice response Sacks, atleast we and Sir Jake can keep this going till others are ready to join in.
Unfortunately I still do not have Aurora and I wont be able to attain it anytime soon due to Financial obligations.
I just try to solve positions from my head.
I believe we will keep improving Sir Jake.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/poolcheckers/ is also a very attractive place for discussions, many players are already there, we can move the discussions there, what do you think?
Re: Position 103
Hi Jake,
If you suggest that we shift to facebook, then I have no problem with that, we can shift the discussion.

Re: Position 103
I had left Facebook as I didn't feel comfy using it, but if the discussion is going there, then I'll just have to try to reactivate my account or create a new one.
