Email list vs forum
If you do not know it, there is a poolcheckers@googlegroups.com email list with about 60 members.
In every group there are those who actively participate, and there are those who never utter a word, that is normal, but this group has too few active participants. The first years had as many as 600 posts a month, now the group is at about 40 messages, basically it is almost dead. While the group enjoys security with two managers on alert protecting against viruses, the players never relaxed enough to have open conversations.
This forum was created with an idea of possible replacement / enhancement to the email list.
Since it does not send any emails, it does not send viruses. It is easier to find messages and replies on the forum.
It is much easier to get on the forum than on the private list. But it is up to the players, those who never respond will probably continue the same, thus it is up to the active players to start and participate in conversations.
On the other hand an email is a trigger that comes to your home and draws attention instead of remembering going to this and that site to see what's new.

Re: Email list vs forum
Message received ! I see the topic Jamaican Draughts lessons and the other one just says Lessons. Now I do not have access to Lessons. Could you kindly open the door Jake !
Re: Email list vs forum
Hi Sacks,
The Lessons in the Jamaican room is different from the Lessons group you were in.
The Jamaican group was created specifically for Jamaican players, the intent was to use their native board (with Mason on the right) to make it simpler for them to learn and communicate.
Also a private room was to encourage them discuss their internal affairs without outsiders snooping in. Several players signed up but only Aqua came and we had a few lessons but that stopped too.
