Hi Jake,

This position looks very familiar. 1. cd2 ! is a strategic move for white to easily fight for a draw. It is strategic in the sense that black cannot step to ef5 because of 2.de3 and now any move that will follow by black,  a piece on e1 which is behind in development can easily run to  h4 corner  and a draw is guaranteed.  1.cd2 dc5 2.de3 cb4 3. ed2 black now should avoid move ba3 4. dc3 which is now a clear draw. After 3.ed2 if black pushes de7, white will come to 4.ed4! and if it comes to dc7, a piece on e3 will now have its way to go and crown:bounce:  (1.cd2 dc5 2.de3 de7 3. ef2! ef6 4.fg3) 3.ef2 ed6 4. ef4.....draw !Basketball
